Matt 0 – Turbulence 1

Well screw you turbulence 🖕

A couple of weeks ago I went on safari in South Africa 🇿🇦

The trip was part of a professional coaching certification, so basically deep, self development work in the company of hyenas.

An incredible experience that was well worth the 16hr+ flight.

It was a busy couple of weeks before the trip as I wanted to get ahead with work. I knew I would be completely off grid whilst in the African bush.

I was really looking forward to the flight to kickstart the adventure.

Ya know – settle into a film, have a couple of vinos and relax, innit.

I’m cotched, film chosen and I ordered a red wine (well two actually) but this proved to be a bad call in hindsight…

No longer than 10s after I took a deep breath and entered relax mode we hit some sudden turbulence and WALLOP both glasses of wine ended up in my lap…

…all over my t-shirt and brand spanking new Carharrt trousers.

To make it worse the seatbelt light was now on so I couldn’t even attempt to get up and clean myself up.

Not the best start to my chill mode BUT here’s the thing…

There was nothing I could do about it, so there was no point stressing about whether the stain would come out, not having anything to change into or having to sit in wet clothes for the rest of the flight.

So I decided to just accept it and come to terms with the fact the only option was to get into the film with wet pants and smelling of wine 😂

There’s an important lesson here about focusing on what you can control whilst accepting what you can’t.

I’m not saying go full Zen master here.

I mean what happened was bloody annoying, no doubt, but stressing over something you can do nothing about is just a waste of your time and energy.

This way of thinking can be applied to EVERYTHING.

How much of your day or week is consumed by focusing on shit you can’t control?

Sure, get frustrated and annoyed if you have to but nip that in the bud ASAP if there is nothing you can do.

If there is, great, take action on that.

I purchased a new outfit in Dubai and arrived in Durban earlier than planned so had a relaxing cold one whilst I waited for my taxi – so all was good in the end 😊

And this is exactly what we help people master in our 12-Month Lifestyle Transformation programme.

Because the truth is, fitness, health, and mindset transformations aren’t about strict rules, insane workouts, or unsustainable dieting.

They’re about developing the ability to make better decisions, handle setbacks without throwing in the towel, and create a lifestyle that works for you, not against you.

That’s why Keris and I are so excited to launch the 2.0 version of our 12-Month Lifestyle Transformation Plan – designed to help you build a sustainable mind and body transformation with zero BS.

You’ll get…

✅ A structured but flexible approach
✅ Coaching that meets you where you are
✅ Strategies to help you stay consistent even when life throws shit your way

This isn’t another quick fix. It’s about long-term success.

If you’re ready to finally ditch the “all or nothing” mindset and create a lifestyle that actually lasts then book your free call here.

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with this gem from The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse (which I love)…

“One of our greatest freedoms is choosing how we react to things.”
