Steak, Chorizo & Pimped Up Peas

15th April 2013

At Fitter Food if we have the opportunity to cook a dish that involves whacking everything together in one pan we jump at the chance. We don't believe food should be faffy or time consuming and this meal reflects that perfectly. This is a dish that is so easy to do anyone could do it. Super quick yet bursting with flavour. Can you go wrong when chorizo is involved? Not really. Check it out.

Food, Emotion and Reward

15th March 2013

What you eat and drink is often dictated by your emotions. The reason you may struggle to adhere to a nutrition plan is often because you are stressed and busy at work, having relationship issues, feeling low or maybe even training hard and feel you deserve a “little treat." The thing all these have in common is that they are an emotion. More to the point though, they are all emotions that often lead to a need for a reward. Does this sound like you?

Women and Weighty Issues

4th March 2013

As the fitness industry is slowly merging with the health/medical profession, trainers are being referred to as the ‘doctors of the future’… I wouldn’t go that far (can you imagine handing Matt a stool sample?)  The industry is now launching courses on stress, adrenal health, digestion and what really fascinates me; a course entitled “Women’s Issues.”  So what are these women's issues?

What is the purpose of our meals?

27th February 2013

We all eat food, we all need to eat food, we all enjoy food but do we eat food for the right reasons? Sadly for most the answer is no. Many will think the title of this post is a silly question but in my opinion is a very important one.

Over Christmas I caught a cold. WHAT!!!

13th January 2013

I have to confess, I ate rubbish over the festive period.  Now I always like to have a treat here and there and it’s a given I indulge over Christmas, BUT I never get colds or flu. Ever since I adopted a diet of unprocessed foods a few years ago I have been cold free, even when many around me are suffering. So what was different this time?

Moroccan style lamb meatball stew with eggs

6th January 2013

We love Moroccan flavours and we love meatballs so this is the perfect combination. Packed with anti inflammatory spices and tender lamb, topping with an egg finishes it off nicely.  It's great served with cauliflower rice but if you are looking for a higher carbohydrate option you could serve with white rice.

Caribbean style sea bream with cauliflower rice

6th January 2013

Caribbean flavours are a great way to jazz up fish dishes and we made up this recipe to use up some leftover vegetables. Similar to all our recipes it's so easy to do. Give it a try.

Fitter Food: Why you can’t afford NOT to buy it!

14th December 2012

Matt and I have been on a journey. We’re passionate about health and vitality, however, until recently, perhaps a little guilty of focusing too much on exercise and not truly acknowledging the power of nutrition.  Our recipe book Fitter Food details everything we've learnt (the hard way) about transforming your health from the inside out with food.

Recipe: 5 Spice Beef, Veg and Cashew Nut Stir Fry

12th December 2012

An awesome tasting, healthy and super quick recipe. A great way of getting some top quality protein, vegetables and healthy fats. We have used rump steak for this dish (grass fed) so it's nice and cheap yet still full of goodness. I cooked this dish for my Mum for lunch as she is not feeling well.

How do you reward yourself?

9th November 2012

Hey folks, just a really quick post on reward. Many of us work hard both in the gym and at our jobs, we work long hours and at times experience high stress situations. All of which are a time where we can feel that a reward is deserved. Question is though how do you reward yourself?
