Do You Ever Feel Lonely?

Do you ever feel lonely?

Matt and I have both struggled with loneliness at various times in our life.

It’s often been when the balance has been lost.

We’ve got busy with life and are not making time for social connections.

Or we’re not fully present during interactions because our head is elsewhere.

Likely running through daily worries, served with a side of intermittent guilt about breaking away from the ‘to do’ list for a chat.

Moving to Portugal has been a great reminder of how vital social connections are for optimal health.

The people we’ve met here have been incredible at helping us ride out the firsts, the unknowns and what ifs.

The people we hang with have the power to influence our emotions, priorities, decisions and therefore our health.

Those you spend the most time with dictate your personal reality.

If you’re not careful, their opinions, actions, beliefs and personality can start to become yours.

The number of people isn’t important.

The quality of time and frequency of contact matter more.

So we have a criteria now!

It helps us filter the good un’s from the energy vampires.

Hamish is the absolute best wing man for this task too…

The criteria we’ve all agreed:

💖 Loves kindness

🏡 Loves community

🐾  Loves dogs

🍳  Loves food

🏔️ Loves hiking

🌲 Loves nature

💬 Loves deep chats

☕️ Loves coffee

😂 Loves a laugh

🇵🇹 Loves Portugal

👆 that’s our tribe 👊

So how’s your tribe looking and is it best serving your health?

Check you’re making time for your social connections and most importantly, check they are the right ones.
