DON’T Buy This on Black Friday

So Black Friday is fast approaching.

This year, I want you to pause and think carefully for a moment.

In 2023 Black Friday online sales grew to 70.9 billion globally.

Can you remember what you bought? 

Where are those Black Friday bargains now?

Was it worth it?

You need to consider this because another tidal wave of deals are coming your way.

It’s really important you don’t waste your money on just another dopamine hit.

Dopamine levels surge at the mere thought of accumulating stuff.

It channels our inner Golam and we hunt for #precious things.

Most of these will be gathering dust on the side, posted on Vinted, in the charity shop or landfill within a couple of months.

I get it.

It’s addictive.

And I used to be there constantly. 

Shopping in a trance-like state, not even questioning the process.

Just jumping from app to app searching for glittery tops.

I already had 4 to choose from and I only go out-out about once a year 😂

The problem with this trance is it’s often taking you further away from ‘wellness’.

Hunting for bargains is just a form of distraction and disempowerment.

You’re being told what you need rather than taking time to consider your true needs.

Most of us don’t need more stuff.

All our basics are ticked off.

Yet our mental and physical health is suffering through stress, overwhelm, loneliness, fear, anxiety and that dreaded thought…

“is this it?!” 

But it’s easier to run from these thoughts and head straight online to hit ‘buy now’ instead

So I’m asking you to wake up this Black Friday.

Unless an online retailer is selling happiness, connection, contentment, confidence, inner peace… DON’T be swindled into wasting money, time and energy.

Take back control.

If you buy anything, think about the long-term impact.

Invest in knowledge, inspiration, motivation and guidance to help you tune back into yourself and your own wisdom.

It takes many forms…

….coaching, new skills, learning a language, crafts, books, experiences, adventures.

Or just a good pair of walking boots and raincoat, so you can head out hiking and find all the answers within yourself whatever the weather 🫶
