Did you catch this week’s Panorama “The Menopause Industry Uncovered”?
I’m curious… what did you think?
I think the increasing awareness and conversation around menopause is great.
BUT…
There’s no denying it’s become a lucrative sales opportunity too.
You can bag yourself a menopause coach, supplement stack, teas, hair oil, CBD drink and there’s even menopause chocolate.
There’s a new trend to stick Ashwagandha in something, label it menopause and capitalise on women at a vulnerable life stage.
Whilst the Panorama documentary exposed some naff menopause supplements and practices *hooray*
I felt it dedicated the rest of the airtime to negativity, rather than focusing on why we need a more integrated approach to menopause health care.
If you’re asking a HRT professional what they suggest as a next step, there’s a good chance the discussion will focus on HRT for symptom resolution.
That’s because there’s little time to discuss if you’re overweight, sedentary, lacking key nutrients or dealing with a tidal wave of stress from work, family and global politics.
None of this was mentioned.
There was no discussion about a combined health approach to hormone changes.
This frustrates me immensely.
As a professional who believes in empowering women through menopause, I’m tired of all this distraction preventing you from understanding you already have access to most of the tools you need to optimise hormone health.
My personal game-changers have been
Nutrition
Daily morning walks
Saying ‘No’ more
Evidence-based supplements
Strength training
Trusting my HRT prescriber
Mindset and emotional support
It’s why I launched the Empowered Menopause Hub.
To share the knowledge and skills so you can have a holistic approach to perimenopause and menopause and take back control yourself.
If you’re someone who is confused about the next steps and wants to make informed decisions about your health, then I encourage you to take a look.
